Lawsuit dismissed

VANCOUVER - A BC woman has agreed to the dismissal of her lawsuit in the shooting death of her father by police during an armed standoff outside a Lower Mainland casino.  In a BC Supreme Court document filed earlier this month, legal counsel for both sides agreed to dismiss the suit without costs. Daughter suing officer

The daughter of the man shot during a 2012 standoff in New Westminster has launched a wrongful death lawsuit against the Delta police officer accused in the shooting.  Nousha Bayrami's lawsuit against Const. Jordan MacWilliams alleges the officer shot Mehrdad Bayrami "suddenly, without warning or justification" as he was walking backwards away from police officers with his arms at his sides.  (Delta Optimist    Nov 2014)

Chief civilian director, Richard Rosenthal submitted his report to Crown counsel concerning the Nov shooting death of 48-year-old Mehrdad Bayrami.  The report will not be made public, and the IIO will not be providing any further information regarding the case. (New West Record   July 2013)

Shoot-out victim dies

Ten days after an officer-involved shooting just outside the Starlight Casino in Queensborough, the man at the centre of the incident died in hospital. The BC Coroners Service confirmed that Mehrdad Bayrami, 48, of Richmond, had passed away on Sunday evening.  (New West Record   Nov 2012)
