SUSAN MILLER On at approximately 5:00pm officers from the Chilliwack office of the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP attended a residence in the 48200-block of Ryder Lake Rd, and discovered a female is severe medical distress inside the residence. KEVIN RICHARD BOYCE A Surrey man has been identified as the victim of a three-alarm blaze that destroyed most of a pricey heritage home in Vancouver's upscale Shaughnessy neighbourhood on November 30. Kevin Richard Boyce, 51 was discovered dead in the basement of the home. Vancouver police arson investigators have determined that the fire was deliberately set, and that Boyce died from smoke inhalation. However, they said they still do not know what Boyce was doing in the house or whether he had any particular connection to the home. The three-alarm blaze destroyed most of the residence. ALEX 'Buffalo' NUNEZ On Wednesday at approximately 3:20am Surrey RCMP discovered a deceased male in the backyard of a home in the 14400-block of 115 Ave. The male has been identified as a 27-year-old man of Richmond. MARIA ADDOLORATE CATROPPA An elderly Fleetwood man is accused of stabbing his wife to death in their Monta Rosa townhouse. Neighbours were awoken by screaming at about 3:20am at the townhouse complex, at 8567 164th St. Police found the body of 69-year-old Maria Addolorate Catroppa in one of the units and arrested her 74-year-old husband, Sebastiano Damin, who was also suffering from stab wounds. MICHELLE VANDALE At approximately 9:00am Abbotsford Police were dispatched to assist with a suspicious house fire in the 4400-block Lefeuvre Rd. Once firefighters and police were inside the residence a deceased female was located. Abbotsford Serious Crime Investigators attended and determined that the fatal injuries Michelle Vandale, 41, had sustained did not appear consistent with a fire death. ANDREW LYNN MILNE At approximately 9:45pm uniform officers of the Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to a complaint of a domestic dispute at 20226 Ospring St. Officers located Andrew Lynn Milne, 50, in medical distress. BCAS attended and transported the victim to Ridge Meadows hospital where he was pronounced dead. ROXANNE FLORA CHARLIE At approximately 04:00am Surrey RCMP received a report of shots fired in the 10200 block of 152a St. Upon arriving at scene patrol officers entered a residence and observed an adult female on the floor suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. After a further search of the residence, patrol officers encountered a male also suffering from an apparent gunshot injury along with multiple additional people inside the home. GURPREET ‘Garry’ SINGH BASSI Gurpreet "Garry" Singh Bassi, age 23 of Surrey BC, was found deceased in a vehicle parked at Surrey Lake Park late Monday afternoon. Bassi is known to police and police believe this to be a targeted incident. The vehicle, a 4 door 1992 White Honda Accord, was located by police on Monday Oct. 26th and a number of people have now been interviewed leading investigators to believe the vehicle may have been at Surrey Lake Park for a number of days. JAMES WILLIAM BALL At approximately 6:15am Ridge Meadows RCMP received a 911 call from a delivery person directing them to the 20200 block of the Lougheed Highway behind the local Safeway in regards to an adult male in medical distress. Members of the BC Ambulance Service attended and transported the victim to Ridge Meadows Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. ZHE HU & YAN LIN At approximately 11:00pm Richmond RCMP received a call regarding an altercation occurring at the McDonalds restaurant on the corner of Granville Ave & No 3 Rd. Once at scene officers came upon two victims inside the restaurant. Both victims were suffering from stabbing related injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Charged with two counts of second degree murder is Chang Xi Wang, 33, of Richmond. The male victim is Zhe Hu, 37, and the female victim is Yan Lin, 36, both from the Richmond area. PAUL ‘Pockets’ JOHNATHON DENIS An Abbotsford man was fatally stabbed in a home in the 31900-block of Hopedale Ave early Friday. Police were notified after a 911 call was placed from the home at 8:40am, asking for an ambulance for a stabbing victim. The 36-year-old man, described as having "an extensive history with police," was pronounced dead at hospital. Charged with first degree murder are Michael Allan Froese, 25, and Melissa Linda Cox, 28, both of Abbotsford. BOBBY LEROY DIGORGIO & JESSICA AMBER ILLES On August 27, 2009 Abbotsford Police received a call regarding a burnt vehicle in a berry field in the 400-block of Gladwin Road road in rural Abbotsford. Once on scene and during the investigation into the burnt vehicle, burnt human remains were discovered inside the vehicle. The male has been identified as Bobby Leroy Digeorgio, 24, of the Mission/Abbotsford area. While conducting inquiries into the murder of Digeorgio investigators attended a residence at 31300-block of McConachie Place in Abbotsford on Aug. 30 and discovered the murdered body of Jessica Amber Illes, 23. Illes & Digeorgio were last seen together and were in a relationship. They were known for involvement in criminal activity and the drug trade. 'Ricky' YAO HENG CHOU One man is dead after an early morning shooting in Burnaby. HONG WEI YIN A body has been found in the trunk of a car in Vancouver, police say. Vancouver police homicide investigators and Burnaby RCMP are in the 8300-block of Chester Ave according to VPD. Investigators believed the death was related to the Burnaby slaying earlier this month of John William Hanna, a Richmond resident, but the license plate on the vehicle matches a car owned by missing massage parlour worker Hong Wei Yin. Yin, 33 of Metrotown, was supposed to fly to China on July 16, but had not been heard from since July 12. LISA ARLENE FRANCIS Police have released the name of the city's 15th homicide victim, in an attempt to gather information about her whereabouts prior to her disappearance. Downtown Eastside resident Lisa Arlene Francis, 41, was found floating in the Fraser River in south Vancouver on July 23. Investigators believe the woman was last seen on July 10th. ALEXANDER VINCENT PAUL At 9:47pm the Abbotsford Police received a 911 call from a residence in the 3815 Inter Provincial Hwy. When the Abbotsford Police Patrol Division and Municipal Integrated Emergency Response Team members attended the residence they located several occupants including a deceased 32 year old man from Abbotsford. JASWANT ‘Billy’ RAI Just after midnight the Abbotsford Police responded to 911 calls concerning shots fired in the 30200-block of Spallin Ave. Upon arrival police discovered a deceased male, with gunshot wounds, located in close proximity to a vehicle. The deceased male is Jaswant (Billy) Rai, 36. Rai’s sister Bonnie, a recent NDP candidate both provincially and federally, said the family was shocked and devastated at Rai’s violent demise. RANJIL 'Raman' & AMARJIT GILL At approximately 11:00 AM Surrey RCMP received a 911 call regarding a shooting at a residence at 6366 126th St. Brothers Ranjil, 15, and Amarjit Gill, 17, were slain and their mother Sukhwinder, 35, was critically injured. ANGELA CROSSMAN At approximately 12:15pm Agassiz RCMP office received a call to attend the Chehalis Lake Forest Rd after the body of a deceased female was discovered by some people on their way to go fishing. JEFFEREY QI FENG BIAN Police were called to the 18th floor of 1067 Marinaside Crescent where they found a 28 year old Vancouver man suffering from stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital, but died of his injuries a short time later. MATTHEW JOHN SKURA On May 28, 2009 at approximately 11:00pm Surrey RCMP were called to the parking lot of WestWinds Community Church where a brawl had broke out between two groups. A male was transported to an area trauma hospital where he was placed on life support. The male, 21-year-old Matthew John Skura remained on life support until family were able to be assembled at the hospital. Police arrested a 16-year-old male in connection to the incident several hours after the assault. According to his stepfather Matthew was punched in the head by one teen, fell to the ground, then was kicked in the head by another teen. He began bleeding into his brain and was rendered brain-dead at the scene. SARJBIT ‘Steve’ NAGRA At approximately 8:00pm a man suffering from an apparent gunshot injury attended the Ridge Meadows hospital. The man drove in his dark coloured SUV to the hospital after being shot. The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Sarjbit "Steve" Nagra of Maple Ridge. Nagra was known to the Maple Ridge RCMP. The shooting has been identified as occurring in the residential neighbourhood of 11400-block of Maple Crescent. It is believed the woman was living in the park despite the area being very rugged and steep and in an area where camping is not allowed. CHRISTOPHER ROY WHITMEE At approximately 11:00pm shots were heard inside the Cloverdale Show Lounge at the Clover Inn on 176th St & 57th Ave. Once at hospital one male a 34-year-old Surrey man passed away due to injuries sustained in the shooting. The other male a 28-year-old Surrey man remains in hospital in critical but stable condition. Police have established that the two males were not known to each other. DAMON MICHAEL MARTIN At approximately 8:45 AM Surrey RCMP received a call to attend the area of Hwy 10 & 132nd St to a possible male struck by a vehicle. Upon arriving on scene police quickly identified that the male had been a victim of a shooting. The man has been identified as 33-year-old Damon Michael Martin of Surrey. JOSEPH RANDAY & DILSHER GILL At approximately 9:00am two maintenance workers located a vehicle parked on a Sumas Mountain side road just off of Lower Sumas Mountain Road. Upon a closer look at the vehicle two males were discovered slumped over inside the vehicle. At this time investigators are not able to confirm whether this was a targeted or random act, or if there are any links to drugs or organized crime. KULWINDER GILL A 40-year-old Abbotsford woman walking along Townshipline Road at Bell Road was struck and killed by a passing silver or grey pickup truck at 7:35 pm. When officers arrived in the 34600-block Townshipline Road, they were flagged down by a man who directed them to a partially water-filled ditch on the north side of the road. The man was the woman's husband, and the pair had been walking along the road before the woman was hit. Abbotsford police said they recovered the suspect vehicle, which was found abandoned several blocks from the scene, about 90 minutes later. DONALD GUY HOOKER On April 26, 2009, at 7:50pm, Ridge Meadows RCMP officers located Donald Guy Hooker, age 55, of Maple Ridge, lying in the parking lot of the Shell Gas Station, 23212 Dewdney Trunk Rd, after responding to several 911 calls. The investigation has determined that Hooker had been involved in a verbal dispute with a group of young adults over some property, and was aggressively struck in the head. The youths fled from the scene. Hooker was transported to Royal Columbian Hospital where he subsequently died. DAVID PHONG QUAI BANH Police found a dead man slumped over in the driver's seat of a white SUV after responding to calls of shots fired Saturday night in East Vancouver. The discovery was made in the parking lot of a Boston Pizza restaurant in the 2800-block of Bentall St, near Grandview Highway and Rupert Street, around 11:40pm. WENDY LOUISE LADNER-BEAUDRY On April 3, 2009, at 2:45pm, UBC RCMP received a call from BC Ambulance Service that a body of an adult female was found on the nature trial in Pacific Spirit Park near the corner of West 41st Ave and Camosun Street. Foul play has been confirmed. SEAN MURPHY Police discovered the victim of an apparent gunshot wound slumped behind the wheel of a car in the 36400-block of Bateman Road. KYLE BARBER At approximately 10:50pm Langley RCMP and BC Ambulance Service responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at 24400-block of Fraser Hwy. Upon arrival at the scene Kyle Barber, 24, a Langley man was discovered outside of the home and was in severe medical distress due to his injuries. The male was treated at scene and then transported to a local area hospital where he later died from his injuries. Police have learned that there was an apparent altercation in the residence that eventually lead to the stabbing, the suspects departed the scene and remains outstanding. TSZ YEUNG WONG At approximately 5:30pm Richmond RCMP received a call regarding an assault that had occurred in a residence located in the 6300-block of Swift Ave. Shortly after arrival police were advised by BCAS employees that the victim had not survived the assault. STEVEN NICHOLAS DODD On Friday, February 27, 2009 at approximately 11:30pm a male was found in a residence in the 13000-block of 108th Ave suffering from a gun shot wound to the head. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he remained in critical condition. SUNIL MALL A young man in his 20s was found slumped over the steering wheel of his car, dead of gunshot wounds. "Right now it has all the marks of a gangland-style hit," Vancouver Police Insp. PING LI At approximately 8:00pm Burnaby RCMP received a 911 call regarding a shooting in an apartment in a building located in the 2300-block of Madison Ave. Upon arriving at the address and attending to the 25th floor patrol officers came across the scene of the shooting. Inside the apartment was an adult male and female both suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. Ping Li, a Chinese woman in Canada on a student visa, died later that day in hospital. SUKHWINDER DHALIWAL At approximately 6:40pm, the Delta Police responded to a 911 call reporting suspicious circumstance in the 11800-block of Ladner Trunk Rd. On arrival police confirmed there is one adult male deceased as a result of gun shot wounds. The deceased is, Sukhwinder Dhaliwal, 32, of Abbotsford. He was found lying outside of his 2005 grey Cadillac having sustained fatal gunshot wounds at the scene. SHER SINGH About nine o'clock in the evening of Sunday, March 1 when 53-year-old Surrey resident Sher Singh spotted someone trying to steal a bottle in the liquor store next to Donegal's pub at Scott Road and 96 Avenue. Singh attempted to intervene, and there was a physical confrontation. Singh was knocked to the floor where he hit his head and fell unconscious. The afternoon of the next day, he was discovered dead at a friend's residence in Surrey. RONAK WAGAD Ronak Wagad was last seen in Vancouver on February 23, 2009 when he was abducted from his Vancouver apartment. Significant investigative steps were taken which lead to the discovery of Wagad’s remains near the Peters Road exit off Highway One east of Chilliwack on July 8th. On July 17th, RCMP investigators arrested Surrey resident Charles Anthony Leslie, 31, in relation to this case. On July 19th North Vancouver resident Babak Najafi-Chaghabouri, 27, was also arrested. CORY STEPHEN KONKIN At approximately 1:30pm Maple Ridge RCMP received a call regarding a vehicle upside down in a water-filled ditch located in the 13400 block of 216th St. As the vehicle was being extricated from the ditch the body of a deceased male was discovered inside the vehicle. VICTIM NOT IDENTIFIED At approx 9:00am, Coquitlam RCMP attended 460 Westview St. Investigation revealed that a 25-year-old adult male was deceased as a result of falling from a fourth floor balcony. SHANE ALLAN MESSENT Further investigation into the homicide that occurred in the 6900 block of Fraser Street at 2:00pm shows that it appears to have begun as a home invasion. An altercation took place between the suspects and the occupants of the house. At some point shots were fired. Shane Allan Messent, a 24 year old Surrey man, was killed. He is known to police, but has no known gang affiliations. A suspect was taken into custody by the Surrey RCMP later the same day. Investigators have now confirmed what family members at a house on Fraser Street told reporters Tuesday - that two men forced their way into the residence and that a teen inside - Aleem Mohammed - was shot and wounded, while Messent was killed. NICOLE MARIE ALEMY Surrey RCMP are investigating a reported gang-style shooting near Green Timbers Park that left a woman dead, but a child also travelling in the car was not hurt. KEVIN ROBERT LECLAIR Langley RCMP were called to attend a report of shots fired at approximately 4:00pm in the parking lot of Thunderbird Centre in the 20100 block of 88 Avenue. Upon police attendance, it was confirmed that there had been a shooting. The victim was shot while seated in his vehicle. He was transported by Air Ambulance to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries early Sunday morning. CHANELLE MORGAN & ANEEZ MOHAMED Dr. Aneez Mohamed, 31, and Chanelle Morgan, 25, died after being hit by a black Buick SUV on West 4th Avenue, at the entrance to Granville Island. The newly engaged couple were on their way home from a celebration dinner at Granville Island. The suspected driver, 18 year old Kurtis Rock, fled from the scene and was located with the help of a police dog, in the water off False Creek. He is charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death, two counts of impaired driving causing death, two counts of failing to stop at an accident causing bodily harm, theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property. RAPHAEL BALDINI On Tuesday Feb. 3, 2009 at approximately 5:20pm multiple shots were fired into a White Range Rover parked at the Guildford Town Centre parking lot. Moments later police arrived on scene to discover a male in severe medical distress suffering from an apparent gunshot injury. The male was eventually transported to a Local Area Trauma Hospital where he later died from his injuries. BRIANNA HELEN KINNEAR At approximately 7:00pm Coquitlam RCMP received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked at the road. The caller indicated that the vehicle was parked at the roadside on Oxford St & Mason Ave and that the drivers side window had been broken. Police attended the location immediately, upon examining the inside of the vehicle discovered the body of a deceased female slumped over the steering wheel in the drivers seat. The Integrated Homicide team was called to handle the investigation as there were indicators of foul play. The investigation has revealed so far that the victim died from an apparent gunshot injury. Upon arrival a male was located lying on a residential front yard suffering from an injury thought to be related to a stabbing. ANDREW GAWLEY A man who was badly burned when his East Vancouver apartment was rocked by an explosion Oct. 25, 2008 has died from his injuries. Andrew Gawley, 21, suffered second & third-degree burns in the explosion, which police allege was deliberately set with gasoline by the former boyfriend of his new roommate. A few weeks earlier, Gawley had rented a room in his apartment on 3400-block Crowley St to Lana Marie Christophersen, 26. Christophersen died in the fire and explosion, and her former boyfriend, Jamie Michael Cliff, 34, was later charged with murder and attempted murder. JOSHUA DOUGLAS HEDRICK On the morning of August 27, 2009, Coquitlam RCMP responded to a complaint of found human remains in the Fraser River near Douglas Island, Port Coquitlam. After an autopsy and reviewing a number of missing persons reports a possible identity was determined. On August 28, 2009, the remains were positively identified as 25 year old Joshua Douglas Hedrick of Maple Ridge, BC. BILL MERCHANT A 65-year-old man with a criminal record was found dead in a 900 block Richards Street apartment block in downtown Vancouver around 11pm Sunday. A Vancouver Island man has been arrested and is charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of a 65-year-old man in an upscale Yaletown highrise.
