ADAM HANSON

On New Years Eve at approximately 11:20pm at least one shot rang out in a residence located in the 11200 block of 134th St in Surrey.  Moments later a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound.  Surrey RCMP patrol officers were dispatched to the residence, upon arrival determined that the man suffered a fatal shot and was deceased. PAYTON BOOKER BUCKNER  a.k.a. Dexter Buckner

Just prior to midnight Mission RCMP were called after a man's body was found in a driveway on Laurel Ave. IHIT was brought in to investigate and determined that the man died after an altercation at a nearby house party.  The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Payton Booker Buckner, also known as Dexter Buckner, of Mission.  Buckner is known to police.  (Vancouver Province)  Dec. 31, 2008   (LM 2008 #73)   MORE:  Police investigate homicide    3rd of 4 children found dead

   

VICTIM NOT IDENTIFIED

BENJAMIN DAVID BANKY

IAN BRUCE RICHARDS

Police blocked off a long stretch of road in rural Pitt Meadows after a body was found in a ditch early Monday.  The man was discovered on the side of the road in a drainage ditch around 10:30am by people who were training dogs in a nearby field.  The male body located in a water filled ditch in the 20100 block of McNeil Road in Pitt Meadows has been identified as Ian Bruce Richards, 23, of Maple Ridge.  IHIT File #2008-9835   (LM 2008 #71)   Victim named   Body found

 

 

VICTIM NOT IDENTIFIED

At 9:35am the Surrey RCMP Detachment received a complaint of a deceased male being found at a recycling business in the 12300 block of 104 Avenue in Surrey. The unidentified male believed to be in his early 40's was discovered by an employee while working inside a building at the business site.  The cardboard itself is delivered to the site by truck from various large recycling containers throughout the City.  The plant supervisor says the drivers always bang on the dumpsters to make sure no one is inside.   In this case, he says the person likely didn't wake up in time before the dumpster was lifted into the truck and crushed.  IHIT File #2008-147487    Dec. 6, 2008   Body found in bin

   

VAN PHUC ‘Jimmy’ LE

At approximately 10:00pm Surrey RCMP received a report of shots fired in the area of King George Hwy and 100 Avenue. LANA MARIE CHRISTOPHERSEN

ORION HUTCHINSON

TODD JOSEPH ‘JOE’ KRANTZ

JIMMY GROVER LEE

VICTIM NOT IDENTIFIED

RAKESH RATNAM NAIDU

A brazen afternoon shooting in a busy Vancouver mall parkade has left one man with gang affiliations dead.  Between 10 and 20 shots rang out on the bottom level of Oakridge's underground parking lot just after 2pm. LISA CHERYL DUDLEY & GUTHRIE JOLAN MCKAY

On Monday at approximately 4:45pm Mission RCMP received a call regarding a male and a female in medical distress in a residence at the 31000 block of Greenwood Drive.  Upon Police and Emergency medical personnel arriving it was determined that the male was deceased and the female was suffering from a gunshot injury. The female was transported to hospital and while en route she passed away.  The female victim has been identified as 37 year-old Lisa Cheryl Dudley of Mission. The male has been identified as 33-year-old Guthrie Jolan McKay of Mission.   It has been learned that both the victims lived in the residence and were in a relationship when the murder took place. Investigators have identified indicators that suggest that this was a targeted murder and continues to be investigated as a double homicide. DENNIS BIRD

In the confusion following a fatal collision between a speeding SUV and a couple crossing the street, the driver parked her car and walked away.  The fatal accident occurred Sunday at 7:20pm when a speeding 2001 Ford Explorer clipped a 29-year-old cyclist before blowing through a red light and slamming into the couple.  A father of four, Dennis Bird, 64, of Vancouver, died in hospital from his injuries. MELISSA JOAN CHATHAM

At approximately 10:30am Surrey RCMP were called to an address in 10300 block of 140 Street after British Columbia Ambulance Service received a 911 call regarding a woman down. JAMES ASHKER

At approximately 4:30am Ridge Meadows RCMP received a call regarding a possible impaired driving incident where a minor collision had occurred in the 11600 block of 207th St.  Upon arrival on scene officers established that the lone male driver was in severe medical distress suffering from an apparent stab wound.  BC Ambulance removed the male and transported him to a local area hospital. The male was pronounced deceased once at hospital.  At approximately 5:30am Ridge Meadows RCMP received a call regarding a domestic incident that had occurred earlier in the morning at the 205th St and 114 Ave area of Maple Ridge.  Once officers arrived on scene it was determined that the incident on 207 Street and the domestic were linked.   A 17-year-old Maple Ridge female was arrested and remains in custody. The deceased is a 19-year-old Coquitlam man. WILLENE WAH YING CHONG

Arson was the cause of a fire in southeast Vancouver that claimed the life of an elderly woman early Thursday, police confirmed Friday.  Investigators were looking for a group of young people who were seen in the area around the time of the blaze, at 2781 E 55th Ave. Four other fires were set in the same neighbourhood at about the same time, just after 5am.  Police were treating the death of Willene Wah Ying Chong, 76, as a homicide.   Sept. 11, 2008  VPD Homicide #15  (LM 2008 #60)    Fatal fire was arson    Arson suspected   Police hunt arsonists

   

JAMES EDWARD O’TOOLE

MAIJA-LIISA CORBETT & HYESHIM OH

At approximately 6:05pm a mid-sized truck was seen travelling through a mall parking lot at the corner of 203 Street and Lougheed Highway. The truck was seen slamming through a Sushi Restaurant in that shopping centre. The restaurant had several patrons and employees inside at the time of the incident. YAU AARON CHAN

A man was stabbed to death at the Atlantis nightclub on Richards Street in downtown Vancouver early Sunday morning.  Police got a call about an assault there just after 2am. GURPREET 'Gerry' SINGH SIDHU

At 10:58pm Surrey RCMP were called to the 12400 Block of 90A Avenue for a report of shots fired.  Two young adult male victims were located, both with gun shot wounds. RICHARD FALARDEAU

IHIT is investigating found human remains located inside a residence in the 14300 block on 88th Ave, Surrey. Police were called to the residence the morning of August 20th at approximately 10:15am. MANJIT KAUR SANDHU

At 4:42pm, the Surrey RCMP were called to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 14300 block of 72nd Ave.  Police immediately cordoned off the area and conducted a preliminary search of the house. ADRIAN GILPIN

VICTOR BERGEN

On Sunday August 10th, 2008 the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment received a telephone call from a male who identified himself as Gerald Guliker.  Mr. Guliker, age 44 of Chilliwack, stated that he was going to travel to Hope BC to commit suicide.  Officers responded and lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Bustin and Ferry Roads as Mr. Guliker drove east on Ferry Road.  Officers came upon a head on collision between Mr. Guliker’ vehicle and a vehicle driving west on Ferry Road.    Mr. Guliker’s vehicle was found to be in the oncoming lane.  Both Mr. Guliker and Victor Bergen,  the driver of the oncoming vehicle, age 40 of Chilliwack, were pronounced dead at the scene.    File #2008-27146   (LM 2008 #50)   Aug. 10, 2008  Brain injury with a legacy    Father was ‘not a monster’    Crash driver terrified of returning to jail   Crash investigated as murder-suicide   Suicidal tendencies may have cost life of another

   

ZACHARY HOBEK

HUNG VAN BUI

DUSTIN LEE WESTER

At 5:35 AM the Abbotsford Police Department were called to the commercial complex at 32230 Mt. Lehman Road regarding a man who had been shot. When officers arrived they found the victim in a light-coloured SUV suffering from apparent gun shots. THOMAS DALE HOPFNER

On Friday, July 18, 2008 in the early afternoon hours, fifty nine year old Mission resident Thomas Dale Hopfner (known as “Dale”) was the victim of a homicide. The incident occurred in the 33000 block of North Railway Avenue, the downtown core of the city of Mission.   Hopfner suffered substantial head injuries, and passed away in hospital on Saturday, July 19, 2008 as a result.   A warrant has been issued for Shane Charles Buckner, 32, of Mission, who has a criminal history of violence.  File #2008-9711    July 19, 2008   (LM 2008 #46)    RCMP tight-lipped about murder

   

VICTIM NOT IDENTIFIED

A man was killed in Vancouver on Tuesday evening after being struck by a hit and run driver.  A Vancouver police spokeswoman said the badly injured man was found lying semi-conscious at the intersection of Clark Drive & East Broadway at 4:45pm. The 45-year-old victim was taken to hospital but died soon after. BAKHSHISH KAUR & DILBAG SINGH BADH

ROBERT MORTON

On Saturday July 5 at approximately 8:50 PM Burnaby RCMP received a call for service to a residence in the 7300 block of Halifax Street.   Upon arrival of police, a male stabbing victim was located, the male was in severe medical distress from the stabbing and was transported to a local area hospital.  The victim, 53-year-old Robert George Morton of Burnaby died in hospital during the early morning hours of July 6, 2008.   The man’s wife, 39-year-old Danielle Alice Morton of Burnaby was arrested and is currently in custody.   IHIT File #2008-5092   July 6, 2008  (LM 2008 #45)    Wife arrested   Man dead after domestic dispute

   

VAN EM HUYNH

PAUL HADEN

JANICE MCMATH

A 64-year-old Abbotsford woman who was shot May 28 in what police believe was a domestic incident died Saturday morning.  Janice McMath was found shot outside her home at 5077 McMath Street on Bradner Road.  Robert A. HARMINDER ‘Harvey’ HANS

CODY GOTTSCHALK

At approximately 11:10 PM Chilliwack RCMP were called to the Sunnyside Campground at Cultus Lake to a disturbance involving two small groups of males. Upon arriving at the scene patrol officers were faced with three victims of an apparent stabbing. One victim was a park employee who was injured while attempting to intervene in the altercation. He was treated at hospital and released. A second person, a twenty-year-old male also a stabbing victim was taken to a Metro Vancouver hospital where he is being treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries. ALEXA RENEE MIDDELAER

JONATHAN ALEX BARBER

At approximately 10:00 PM several shots were fired at a vehicle travelling in the 7000 block of Kingsway in Burnaby. The driver of the vehicle Jonathan Alex Barber, 23, from Langley was killed as a result of the shots fired.  A 17 -year-old Surrey female was taken to a Metro Vancouver area hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries. Investigators still have not made any conclusive links to organized crime, drugs or other recent homicides. DUANE HARVEY MEYER

At 10:40 pm police were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Kipling St. after several reports of shots fired. When police arrived they found a deceased 40-year-old man on the front steps of the home.  The victim is forty-one-year-old Duane Harvey Meyer of Mission.  Meyer is known to police and is believed to be a member of the United Nations or UN gang. This incident has all of the indicators of a targeted shooting. MICHAEL SCULLION

On Thursday April 10th in the early morning hours, Michael Scullion, 30, of Chilliwack, was in an altercation outside the Agassiz Crossroads Hotel located at 5936 Lougheed Highway near Agassiz, BC. MICHAEL ANDREW GIBBON

A major disturbance at Agassiz’s mountain institution over the weekend resulted in the death of one inmate. At approximately 21:45 hours a number of inmates in the gymnasium of the institution started to break windows. The inmates were threatening towards staff members and later assaulted other inmates. On at approximately 0725 AM Abbotsford Police Department received a 911 call regarding a woman found dead in an apartment located in the 33300 block of Mayfair Avenue.  The scene was secured and an adult male that was on scene was arrested and taken into custody.  The victim is 52-year-old Hendrikje Priester of Abbotsford. An east Vancouver man was found dead in his apartment Monday morning in what police are calling a suspicious death.  Vancouver police Det. A wounded man bleeding profusely from gunshot wounds pounded on the door of a stranger before dying on the doorstep early yesterday on a quiet street in northeast Coquitlam.   The astonished resident quickly called 911. RCMP in Surrey and subsequently investigators from the IHIT attended a residence in the area of 90th Ave & 141a St on Friday, March 7th at approximately 11:45 pm after initial reports of shots fired.  Upon attendance, police located a Mercedes SUV parked in the driveway with a male slumped behind the steering wheel in the vehicle.  The lone victim was known to police and while at the initial stages of this investigation, investigators are of the belief that this is a targeted attack. ANTHONY JOHN RYAN

A 23-year-old Vancouver man has been charged with aggravated assault but could face manslaughter charges after his stepfather died following a fight at their apartment. His stepfather fell to the floor unconscious and was rushed to hospital where he was put on life support.  He died just after 5pm Friday. At approximately 6:10pm Surrey RCMP were dispatched to a suspicious activity file at an abandoned house located in the 14200 block of 104 Avenue in Surrey.  When officers arrived at the rear of the house they discovered the body of a deceased male.   On June 27, 2008 two females and two males were arrested in various communities throughout the Metro Vancouver area. At the time of the offence, 3 of the charged were under 18 years of age.  The three Young Persons all from the Vancouver area are charged with one count of second degree murder. KHANH PHO MACH

The investigation into the Guildford stabbing death of Khanh Pho Mach, 29, of Surrey that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday has resulted in the approval of charges. Charged with second degree murder is Nga (Susan) Thi-Thanh Nguyen, 28, of Surrey. Patrick Hamilton, 28, was found shot to death in the driveway of a home on the Katzie # 2 First Nations Reserve at 3:15 am Saturday.  Hamilton was discovered by a resident on the reserve who was woken by a barking family dog. The resident found a collapsed man on his driveway and called 911. A man was shot dead in his minivan in downtown Vancouver in what police say appears to be a targeted hit. At approximately 2:30pm, the Burnaby RCMP received a 911 call from the area of MacPherson Ave. and Marine Drive in Burnaby. CHI WAI ‘Darren’ LIAO

At approximately 11:15 pm North Vancouver RCMP received reports of what was thought to be either firecrackers or shots fired in the 600 block of Queens Road West in North Vancouver.  Upon arriving at the parking lot of the Delbrook Recreation Centre located in the 600 block of Queens Road West, patrol officers discovered a deceased Asian male. The male was located in the drivers seat of the vehicle he was in.  The victim has been identified as Chi Wai “Darren” Liso, 32, of Burnaby. PRITPAL SINGH VIRK

At approximately 7:45 pm Ridge Meadows RCMP received a call regarding a male stabbing victim found in a rural roadside ditch on Ford Road between McTavish and Bayne Roads in Maple Ridge.  The male was transported to local hospital where he later died.  The victim was identified as twenty-eight-year-old Justin Aaron Yusko of Port Coquitlam.   Homicide investigators have learned that YUSKO was a regular drug user. On at approximately 9:00 PM Surrey RCMP received a report of “shots fired” in the 12500 block of 72 Avenue. Patrol officers were dispatched and upon arriving on scene officers entered a townhouse and discovered the deceased body of an East Indian male thought to be in his mid-twenties. The victim is Tejvir Singh Bains, 24, also known as Sunny Bains, of Surrey. MICHAEL ALLEN SING

At approximately 12:30 PM today, a police officer on general patrols was flagged down by the driver of a Jeep Cherokee in the area of 152 Street and 104 Avenue. The driver was seeking assistance for another male who appeared to be suffering from gunshot/(s) wounds. Police cordoned off the area, and traffic was affected for approximately two hours at the busy intersection of 152 and 104. A black Land Rover pulled up to the curb just south of Gotham's Steakhouse on the 600 block of Seymour Street in downtown Vancouver at around 10:15 pm Saturday night. At approximately 11:30 PM Surrey RCMP were called to a home in at 15480 91A Ave. Once inside the home, police came upon a dramatic scene. Police are treating the mysterious death of a man at Surrey Memorial Hospital as a homicide.  Gurnam Singh Johal, 41, died last week.
