ADAM HANSON On New Years Eve at approximately 11:20pm at least one shot rang out in a residence located in the 11200 block of 134th St in Surrey. Moments later a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. Surrey RCMP patrol officers were dispatched to the residence, upon arrival determined that the man suffered a fatal shot and was deceased. Police are withholding the victim’s name while family make attempts to notify additional next-of-kin. The man gunned in Surrey has been identified as Adam Hanson, 29. He was a guest at the Mission party attended by the night's other murder victim, Dexter Buckner. PAYTON BOOKER BUCKNER a.k.a. Dexter Buckner Just prior to midnight Mission RCMP were called after a man's body was found in a driveway on Laurel Ave. IHIT was brought in to investigate and determined that the man died after an altercation at a nearby house party. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Payton Booker Buckner, also known as Dexter Buckner, of Mission. Buckner is known to police. VICTIM NOT IDENTIFIED On Sunday evening the Surrey Fire Department was called to the scene of a burning vehicle in North Surrey. While extinguishing the fire, a human body was found in the vehicle. BENJAMIN DAVID BANKY A former employee walked into a staff Christmas party at an east Vancouver health products business Friday and allegedly shot and killed a man. Police said they were called to Tallgrass Distributors Ltd., at 40 East 5th Ave, where a 61-year-old man carrying a firearm had confronted the crowd. IAN BRUCE RICHARDS Police blocked off a long stretch of road in rural Pitt Meadows after a body was found in a ditch early Monday. The man was discovered on the side of the road in a drainage ditch around 10:30am by people who were training dogs in a nearby field. The male body located in a water filled ditch in the 20100 block of McNeil Road in Pitt Meadows has been identified as Ian Bruce Richards, 23, of Maple Ridge. VICTIM NOT IDENTIFIED At 9:35am the Surrey RCMP Detachment received a complaint of a deceased male being found at a recycling business in the 12300 block of 104 Avenue in Surrey. The unidentified male believed to be in his early 40's was discovered by an employee while working inside a building at the business site. The cardboard itself is delivered to the site by truck from various large recycling containers throughout the City. The plant supervisor says the drivers always bang on the dumpsters to make sure no one is inside. VAN PHUC ‘Jimmy’ LE At approximately 10:00pm Surrey RCMP received a report of shots fired in the area of King George Hwy and 100 Avenue. Upon police arrival one deceased male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was discovered in the drivers side of a vehicle. The victim is twenty-six-year-old Van Phuc “Jimmy” Le of Burnaby. LANA MARIE CHRISTOPHERSEN A woman in her 20s is dead and a man is in critical condition in hospital after an explosion in a fifth-floor apartment in the 3400-block Crowley St Saturday morning. TODD JOSEPH ‘JOE’ KRANTZ Shortly after 9:00pm Monday night Abbotsford Police were called to the World Extreme Fighting Gym on Clearbrook Road in response to shots fired. When police arrived they found the deceased victim in the stairwell suffering from apparent gun shot wounds. VICTIM NOT IDENTIFIED Surrey RCMP were called to a home in the 11100 block of 136 St around 8pm Saturday night to a report of man who was stabbed. When police arrived, they had found the man was already dead and that a suspect had left the scene. Police have not released the identity of the 32-year-old victim, whose family is believed to be living in Afghanistan. RAKESH RATNAM NAIDU A brazen afternoon shooting in a busy Vancouver mall parkade has left one man with gang affiliations dead. Between 10 and 20 shots rang out on the bottom level of Oakridge's underground parking lot just after 2pm. Thirty-four year old Rakesh Ratnam Naidu died in a hail of bullets in an underground parkade at Oakridge Mall. LISA CHERYL DUDLEY & GUTHRIE JOLAN MCKAY On Monday at approximately 4:45pm Mission RCMP received a call regarding a male and a female in medical distress in a residence at the 31000 block of Greenwood Drive. Upon Police and Emergency medical personnel arriving it was determined that the male was deceased and the female was suffering from a gunshot injury. The female was transported to hospital and while en route she passed away. The female victim has been identified as 37 year-old Lisa Cheryl Dudley of Mission. The male has been identified as 33-year-old Guthrie Jolan McKay of Mission. It has been learned that both the victims lived in the residence and were in a relationship when the murder took place. DENNIS BIRD In the confusion following a fatal collision between a speeding SUV and a couple crossing the street, the driver parked her car and walked away. The fatal accident occurred Sunday at 7:20pm when a speeding 2001 Ford Explorer clipped a 29-year-old cyclist before blowing through a red light and slamming into the couple. MELISSA JOAN CHATHAM At approximately 10:30am Surrey RCMP were called to an address in 10300 block of 140 Street after British Columbia Ambulance Service received a 911 call regarding a woman down. Upon arrival at the residence paramedics quickly established that the woman was deceased. During the initial scene examination the officers at scene identified a male as a suspect. JAMES ASHKER At approximately 4:30am Ridge Meadows RCMP received a call regarding a possible impaired driving incident where a minor collision had occurred in the 11600 block of 207th St. Upon arrival on scene officers established that the lone male driver was in severe medical distress suffering from an apparent stab wound. BC Ambulance removed the male and transported him to a local area hospital. The male was pronounced deceased once at hospital. At approximately 5:30am Ridge Meadows RCMP received a call regarding a domestic incident that had occurred earlier in the morning at the 205th St and 114 Ave area of Maple Ridge. Once officers arrived on scene it was determined that the incident on 207 Street and the domestic were linked. A 17-year-old Maple Ridge female was arrested and remains in custody. WILLENE WAH YING CHONG Arson was the cause of a fire in southeast Vancouver that claimed the life of an elderly woman early Thursday, police confirmed Friday. MAIJA-LIISA CORBETT & HYESHIM OH At approximately 6:05pm a mid-sized truck was seen travelling through a mall parking lot at the corner of 203 Street and Lougheed Highway. The truck was seen slamming through a Sushi Restaurant in that shopping centre. The restaurant had several patrons and employees inside at the time of the incident. The victims included 19-year-old Maija-Liisa Corbett, a student at UBC, and 46-year-old Hyeshim Oh, an employee of the restaurant, both of Maple Ridge. MANJIT KAUR SANDHU At 4:42pm, the Surrey RCMP were called to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 14300 block of 72nd Ave. Police immediately cordoned off the area and conducted a preliminary search of the house. VICTOR BERGEN On Sunday August 10th, 2008 the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment received a telephone call from a male who identified himself as Gerald Guliker. Mr. Guliker, age 44 of Chilliwack, stated that he was going to travel to Hope BC to commit suicide. Officers responded and lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Bustin and Ferry Roads as Mr. Guliker drove east on Ferry Road. Officers came upon a head on collision between Mr. Guliker’ vehicle and a vehicle driving west on Ferry Road. Mr. Guliker’s vehicle was found to be in the oncoming lane. Both Mr. Guliker and Victor Bergen, the driver of the oncoming vehicle, age 40 of Chilliwack, were pronounced dead at the scene. ZACHARY HOBEK At approximately 2:30am Chilliwack RCMP responded to several 911 calls which were received regarding a possible shooting incident at the 46000 block of Bole Avenue, Chilliwack, BC. HUNG VAN BUI Hung Van Bui, 27, was found slumped in the driver's seat of a 2002 silver Nissan Altima in the 600-block East 65th Avenue, near Fraser Street, at around 10:30 PM Monday. DUSTIN LEE WESTER At 5:35 AM the Abbotsford Police Department were called to the commercial complex at 32230 Mt. Lehman Road regarding a man who had been shot. When officers arrived they found the victim in a light-coloured SUV suffering from apparent gun shots. Paramedics did attend but the man died at scene. The deceased is 25-year-old Dustin Lee Wester of Abbotsford. It has been determined that the shooting occurred in a residence located on a rural property in west Abbotsford. THOMAS DALE HOPFNER On Friday, July 18, 2008 in the early afternoon hours, fifty nine year old Mission resident Thomas Dale Hopfner (known as “Dale”) was the victim of a homicide. The incident occurred in the 33000 block of North Railway Avenue, the downtown core of the city of Mission. Hopfner suffered substantial head injuries, and passed away in hospital on Saturday, July 19, 2008 as a result. A Vancouver police spokeswoman said the badly injured man was found lying semi-conscious at the intersection of Clark Drive & East Broadway at 4:45pm. BAKHSHISH KAUR & DILBAG SINGH BADH At 01:33 AM Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a multi motor vehicle collision in the 8500 block of 128 Street, Surrey, BC. A red BMW was travelling northbound on 128 Street when it was rear ended by a white Acura TL. The red BMW subsequently collided with a telephone pole and the white Acura side swiped a northbound black Chevrolet Camaro. ROBERT MORTON On Saturday July 5 at approximately 8:50 PM Burnaby RCMP received a call for service to a residence in the 7300 block of Halifax Street. Upon arrival of police, a male stabbing victim was located, the male was in severe medical distress from the stabbing and was transported to a local area hospital. The victim, 53-year-old Robert George Morton of Burnaby died in hospital during the early morning hours of July 6, 2008. VAN EM HUYNH Little is known of the fatal shooting that sent police cruisers screaming to the Lang Nuong Hai Lúa restaurant at 2 AM Saturday. HARMINDER ‘Harvey’ HANS On Saturday May 24, 2008 at approximately 0225 AM a call was placed into the Abbotsford City Police Department to attend the 31600 block of Ridgeview Drive as a stabbing had just occurred. Upon arrival police had learned that the victim had been taken to hospital where he died on May 26. Police have identified the victim as Harminder “Harvey” Hans, 18, of Abbotsford. This incident occurred between two groups of Indo-Canadian males in their late teens and early twenties. Investigators have been experiencing a lack of cooperation from a number of those involved and some of their parents. BHUPINDER SINGH BENNING At approximately 0300 AM residents in the 4200 block of Portland Street in south Burnaby were awoken by the sound of gunshots. Burnaby RCMP were called to the scene to investigate and upon arrival discovered a deceased adult Indo-Canadian male lying on the roadway. Police have identified the male as Bhupinder Singh Benning, 27, of Richmond. Benning has just left a friend’s resident when the murder occurred. Police feel that this incident has all of the indicators of a targeted shooting. Benning was known to police and police believed he had links to organized crime in the Lower Mainland. CODY GOTTSCHALK At approximately 11:10 PM Chilliwack RCMP were called to the Sunnyside Campground at Cultus Lake to a disturbance involving two small groups of males. Upon arriving at the scene patrol officers were faced with three victims of an apparent stabbing. One victim was a park employee who was injured while attempting to intervene in the altercation. He was treated at hospital and released. A second person, a twenty-year-old male also a stabbing victim was taken to a Metro Vancouver hospital where he is being treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries. JONATHAN ALEX BARBER At approximately 10:00 PM several shots were fired at a vehicle travelling in the 7000 block of Kingsway in Burnaby. The driver of the vehicle Jonathan Alex Barber, 23, from Langley was killed as a result of the shots fired. A 17 -year-old Surrey female was taken to a Metro Vancouver area hospital to be treated for non life threatening injuries. DUANE HARVEY MEYER At 10:40 pm police were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Kipling St. after several reports of shots fired. When police arrived they found a deceased 40-year-old man on the front steps of the home. The victim is forty-one-year-old Duane Harvey Meyer of Mission. Meyer is known to police and is believed to be a member of the United Nations or UN gang. This incident has all of the indicators of a targeted shooting. CHARLE DALDE At approximately 10:10 pm Richmond RCMP were called to the 5500 block of Cooney Road after receiving a 911 call to the area regarding a fight in progress and a “man down”. The male was taken to Richmond General Hospital where he later died from the injuries he sustained in the altercation. The victim is Charle Dalde, 24, of Richmond. MICHAEL SCULLION On Thursday April 10th in the early morning hours, Michael Scullion, 30, of Chilliwack, was in an altercation outside the Agassiz Crossroads Hotel located at 5936 Lougheed Highway near Agassiz, BC. MICHAEL ANDREW GIBBON A major disturbance at Agassiz’s mountain institution over the weekend resulted in the death of one inmate. At approximately 21:45 hours a number of inmates in the gymnasium of the institution started to break windows. The inmates were threatening towards staff members and later assaulted other inmates. One inmate succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the institution, while a second inmate was transported to an outside hospital as a result of the assault. ANTHONY JOHN RYAN A 23-year-old Vancouver man has been charged with aggravated assault but could face manslaughter charges after his stepfather died following a fight at their apartment. KHANH PHO MACH The investigation into the Guildford stabbing death of Khanh Pho Mach, 29, of Surrey that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday has resulted in the approval of charges. PATRICK ANTHONY HAMILTON Patrick Hamilton, 28, was found shot to death in the driveway of a home on the Katzie # 2 First Nations Reserve at 3:15 am Saturday. PRITPAL SINGH VIRK A man was found lying in the street last night in the 400 block of East 54th just after 11 pm. He was rushed to hospital but died of gunshot wounds. The victim has been identified as Pritpal Singh Virk, 19, of Richmond. Nine days before he was shot and left to die on an East Vancouver street, drug charges against Pritpal Singh Virk were stayed. DEWARD PONTE Police were called to Grays Park, located near Fraser Street and East 33rd Avenue in east Vancouver, shortly after 2 am on Sunday morning to investigate reports of rowdy teens. MICHAEL ALLEN SING At approximately 12:30 PM today, a police officer on general patrols was flagged down by the driver of a Jeep Cherokee in the area of 152 Street and 104 Avenue. GURNAM SINGH JOHAL Police are treating the mysterious death of a man at Surrey Memorial Hospital as a homicide. Gurnam Singh Johal, 41, died last week.
