CHON KUAN “Sam” SIO On December 31st, 2006 at 1937 hours, 911 operators received a report of a male passed out in a red 2003 Infinity G35 located at the rear parking lot of the A&W Restaurant located at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Shaughnessy Street in Port Coquitlam. IHIT has forwarded second degree murder charges in connection to stabbing death of 17-year-old Burnaby resident Chon Kuan “Sam” Sio to Port Coquitlam Crown Counsel. TODD MCLEAN On Saturday at approximately 0040 New Westminster police responded to a 911 call in the 800 block of Agnes Street. Once at the scene it was determined that a male had been taken to Royal Columbian Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival. The investigation to date has revealed that the victim Todd McLean, 17, of New Westminster, was shot in the chest at close range. NAME NOT RELEASED A 28 year-old Surrey woman was found deceased at the 6200 Block of Grant in Burnaby. An autopsy was performed today and the cause of death will be determined once the lab results are in which will take some time. This incident is still being investigated as suspicious. The male that was in custody for this incident has since been released and no charges have been laid. The female’s name will not be released at this time. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) are working in Burnaby on the murder of John Lathan, 61. Police have arrested Jonathan Keegan Bird, 20. ELVAN PRAKASH JATTAN Surrey Detachment received a report of a found body at the rear of Creekside Elementary School located at 13838 - 91st Avenue, Surrey BC. The deceased was situated at the rear of the school near the playground equipment. Students on their way to school noticed the body and reported it to the School staff. The victim has been identified as Elvan Prakash Jattan, 23, of Surrey .As a result of an intense investigation a Young Offender was arrested on November 14th, 2006 for the murder of Jattan. WES & GLENNIS EDWARDS Wes and Glennis Edwards burned bodies were found Saturday morning in the charred remains of their white, two-storey house on the Cheam reserve in Agassiz. The IHIT is involved in the case, but police could not confirm the cause of the fire or whether the couple was dead before it began. NAVRETT WARAICH Surrey RCMP responded to a complaint of domestic violence in the area of 70th Ave & 123 St. A South Asian woman, identified as Navreet Waraich was located and indications are that she had suffered multiple stabs wounds. She was treated on scene by ambulance personnel and then taken to an area hospital. She has succumb to her injuries. Her husband Jatinder Waraich has been charged with second-degree murder. DAVID MITCHELL RCMP in Surrey are seeking the public's assistance to solve the murder of an a man who died Oct. 27. Police say David Mitchell, 25, was seriously injured on Wednesday, Oct. 25, "during a severe assault" inside a residence in the 11000 block of Ravine Road. The double shooting in a car on a residential street that shocked a neighbourhood in Port Coquitlam, B.C., appears to be a case of domestic violence, the RCMP said Friday afternoon. Police said they believe Parmajit Singh Ghuman, 40, of Port Coquitlam shot his estranged wife while she was driving on Thursday afternoon and then turned the gun on himself. Both were critically wounded. Ghuman died a short time later, while Gurjeet Kaur Ghuman, also of Port Coquitlam, remains in critical condition. ALLAN ERIC DEGENSTEIN Surrey RCMP responded to a call of a disturbance to the basement suite of 14369 100th Avenue, in Surrey. An hour later, a call was received from Surrey Memorial Hospital of persons with life threatening injuries. As a result of the injuries sustained, the RCMP confirms that Allan Eric Degenstein, 26, a Surrey resident, has died. Two other persons were injured in the same incident, and have been identified as Eric Briones, 25, and Jayson Pacatang, 28. Currently three persons are in custody as the investigation continues. At approximately 7:18 pm, Abbotsford Police responded to the report of shots being fired in the area of the 1200 block of Peardonville Road in Abbotsford. Police located a deceased adult male in his 20’s inside a parked vehicle in the area. Police believe that this shooting is not a random incident. Sheldon Bluecloud, 29, of Edmonton, Alberta is believed to have recently traveled from Edmonton to British Columbia, however, investigators have still yet to determine what prompted the trip. NAME NOT RELEASED A male body washed up on shore at the Beach beneath trail number 3. The body was discovered by members of the public walking along the shoreline. The investigation has determined foul play. The victim is described as a male, in good physical shape, good dental hygiene, age range of 30 to 50 years old, balding and may have kept his head shaved, distinctive goatee with patches of hair on either side of the chin separated in the middle. BRANDYN DIRIENZO At approximately 8:00 pm a 20 year old Chilliwack male, Brandyn Dirienzo entered the Evergreen apartment complex on Bole Avenue, in Chilliwack. Dirienzo was not seen again by his family or friends and was initially reported missing to the Chilliwack RCMP. Since that time a team of investigators from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team have been actively involved in the investigation. TUONG NGO Tuong Ngo, 92, was apparently hit by a vehicle eastbound on Southeast Marine Drive in the University Endowment lands some time before 3:50 a.m. Wednesday. He was lying on the concrete when struck again by a cabbie, who reported the crash. Ngo, who had dementia, was reported missing from his Chinatown care home at 6 p.m. that night. SHELLEY LYNN DEVOE At approximately 0825 hours on September 22, 2006 Coquitlam RCMP received a 911 call from a person who had discovered the body of a female on the 5000 block of Harper Road in Coquitlam. Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation, police are unable to provide much in the way of details regarding the incident. The victim has been identified as forty-four-year-old Shelley Lynn Devoe of Surrey. She was also known to go by the name of Shelley Lynn Russell. The RCMP are investigating a homicide after a man was found badly beaten in a wooded area in North Vancouver that is populated by homeless people and squatters. Job Clark's body was buried in the small aboriginal cemetery of the Cowichan band in Duncan -- the victim of an apparently senseless murder early Monday morning near the Value Village shopping centre in Burnaby. IGOR AVETISYAN The North Vancouver RCMP received complaints of an altercation at the 100 block of West 5th Street, North Vancouver. A male was taken to Lions Gate Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Igor Avetisyan of Vancouver. Horace Stevens, a 50 year old Vancouver man, was found dead in his home in the 1200 block of E.11st Ave. on August 6th of last year. Vancouver Police spokesman Const. Tim Fanning said Wednesday that police don't know if the dead men were involved in a shoot-out with each other that resulted in their deaths or if they had been killed by a third party. NAME NOT RELEASED Officers responding to a report of gunfire in the 1700 block of E.55th Ave. A 22-year-old Burnaby man, whose name police are withholding at the request of his family, was found lying on East 55th outside David Thompson secondary surrounded by spent cartridge casings at about 1:30 a.m. Witnesses saw another man, who may have been injured, fleeing in a dark-coloured, four-door sedan. DARRIN HAINES On Friday, June 30, 2006 at approximately 01:15 am, Coquitlam RCMP responded to a call of a disturbance of some kind at an address in the 2900 Block of Glen Drive, Coquitlam. A 43 year old male had been injured and has succumbed to those injuries. The deceased male and the potential suspect did know each other. This was not a random incident. On June 30, 2006, a 16 year old male attended the front counter of Coquitlam Detachment and turned himself into Police. Homicide related charges are pending. His name cannot be released under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. There are no other suspects. The cause of death is not being released at this time as the investigation continues. DAVID HIGGINS A father and daughter's holiday to Vancouver ended with cries of grief on a downtown street as the dad was killed in a crosswalk by a hit-and-run driver. The driver was collared 10 minutes later after a witness chased him through the city, at one point boxing in the fugitive's car with his own. The 30-year old victim of a shooting earlier this month at the former Richard’s on Richards nightclub in Vancouver has died; becoming the city's 14th homicide of the year. Tommy Ho Sing Chan had been on life-support since he was gunned down on the dance floor during a CD release party. Vancouver Police have confirmed he had a criminal record dating back to 1996. Before he was shot on May 5th, he was facing charges of trafficking cocaine. On May 4th in 2004, two young men were shot and killed at Chan's Vancouver home. Last September, a 28-year old associate of Chan’s was also gunned down as he drove his jeep along Canada Way in Burnaby. Rong Lilly Li A 29-year-old Vancouver man is facing charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping in the death of a woman who disappeared from outside a popular Richmond casino earlier this year. Rong Lilly Li, 41, was last seen in May getting into a van at the River Rock Casino. Chu Ming Feng is charged with with first-degree murder and kidnapping. Police are still looking for Guo Wei Liang, 27. They describe him as a "person of interest," but would not elaborate. MARGARET REDFORD Langley RCMP responded to a complaint of a found body in a creek at the 273 hundred block of Fraser Hwy, Langley B.C. An autopsy was performed on May 23rd, 2006 at Royal Columbian Hospital. The autopsy revealed the death was the result of Foul Play. ADELA, EDITA, BENEDICTA, STEPHANE ETIBAKO & ASHLEY SINGH Members of the Etibako family perished in a deliberately set fire Monday. Mother, Adela, and her three youngest children Edita, 12, Benedicta, 9 and Stephane, 8 were all killed. A fifth person, who has not yet been identified, also died in the fire. When Adela Etibako and her children fled deadly political turmoil in Congo, she willingly traded a relatively affluent life for a public housing project in Vancouver and a job as a night cleaner at a shopping mall. Etibako came to Canada as a refugee in 1997 after the overthrow of Congolese dictator Mobutu Sese Seko put her husband, prominent businessman Eddy Etibako, in the regime’s sights. SUKHJIT JOHAL At approximately 1:00 P.M. on Friday the 12th of May 2006 Richmond RCMP responded to the Nickels Custom Cabinets at 6960 Graybar Road, Richmond, B.C. It had been reported that a dispute had broken out between two co-workers. Police found Sukhjit Johal, 30, of Surrey had been seriously injured as a result of the altercation. Mr. Johal was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have arrested Gurpal Brar, 27, of Surrey. He is currently in custody, charged with Second Degree murder and will appear in Richmond Provincial Court to answer to the charge. NEWBORN INFANT On Monday, May 8, 2006, the Vancouver Police were called to a suspicious circumstance in a lane in East Vancouver. On arrival, officers found a newborn infant body inside a bag in a dumpster. The body was partially decomposed. An autopsy on May 9th has determined that this was a full term newborn boy. TAMMY KAREN FROST A 1992 Honda Prelude which had been traveling eastbound on Luckakuck Way drifted onto the shoulder and collided with a cyclist who was traveling on the shoulder westbound. The vehicle was being driven by a new driver who is a 17 year old female from Chilliwack. It appears she was distracted by a cellular phone. The cyclist, a 33 year old female from Chilliwack was transported to Chilliwack General Hospital where she died of her injuries. ROBERT & MARGARET JAMIESON Burnaby RCMP were called to a residence in the 4300 block of Southwood Street in Burnaby after both a man and a woman were found deceased. Upon entry, the bodies of Robert and Margaret Jamieson, ages 82 and 79 respectively were located in the bedroom of the residence suffering from fatal gun shot wounds. Forensic examination has now led investigators to the conclusion that the deaths were the result of a murder /suicide and no other persons are believed to have been involved. GLEN ALEXANDER ANTHONY Surrey RCMP say foul play is suspected after a man's body was found in Tannery Park Monday afternoon. Police say a man walking his dog in the North Surrey park came across the body. JACK MAURICE On Sunday April 2, 2006, Vancouver Police responded to a call for assistance at Room # 4, 222 Keefer Street in Vancouver. The resident/victim, 54 year old Jack Maurice, was discovered with head injuries and was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery. It was determined that his injuries were caused by a blunt instrument and the victim told witnesses that he had been assaulted.
