The Province/Calgary Herald investigative team led by Fabian Dawson, has won the 2005 Commonwealth Press Union/Ross Royce Words & Images Award for its series Abandoned brides.

The South Asian Journalists Association announced Province deputy editor Fabian Dawson and writer Michael Roberts as the 2005 winners for a special report on Abandoned brides in India.

The National Newspaper Awards Board of Governors has named Province senior news editor, Fabian Dawson as the recipient of 2004 Unsung Hero of Canadian journalism. (full story)
